Thinking about becoming a farmer? I have just the guide for you!
Joining the job
To become a farmer, you will need a property (apartment or land - rent doors will not do) and a knowledge level of at least 4!
Once you have both of these, find the Farmer NPC (next to the Sheep Shearer NPC, in front of the Lumberjack NPC) and right click it! You will be given 3 wheat seeds upon joining.
Growing your farm
Every time you harvest your fully-grown crops, you get a few more seeds. Not every crop drops seeds, but the ones that do drop three!
Grow your farm faster by buying carrots and potatoes from Aldi and planting them- harvesting them also gives you wheat seeds!
Dirt is tricky to get on MOGL since you can’t buy it. Dig out a few layers underground of your farming property! If you have enough money for a 200k suburban home, I’d recommend buying one, as they have more dirt than most properties! Otherwise, you can find dirt in barrels scattered around town.
Infested crops…
Fully grown crops have a chance of becoming infested. When harvesting an infested crop or planting on that block, you will receive a warning. Cure infestations by using fertilizer (available in the tools store)! Make sure to cure them promptly or the infestation will spread!
Watch out for Crop Squatters!
Infested crops have a small chance of spawning a crop squatter! These annoying pests will try to attack you; they are very fast and give you food poisoning. Carry a sword with you so you are ready to subdue them!
Leveling up!
Every time you level up, you get $1.00 more per crop you harvest! Once you reach level 10 (the highest), you can prestige!
When you prestige, your level resets to 0, but you get a permanent $1.25 increase per prestige level. You can prestige by going to the farmer NPC, right clicking it, and then clicking the diamond hoe! Your prestige level appears in chat next to your job title.

What can I do with all these beetles and old boots?
Good question! If you are part of a business, you can submit them to earn money.
You can also use old boots to make potions, but be warned- this is illegal and will add wanted levels!
I don’t think I want to be a farmer anymore…
That’s quite all right! Farming is not for everyone. There are over a dozen other jobs on MOGL you can do!
Keep in mind that when you leave, you will lose one job level. You will never lose a prestige though!
Other Helpful Tips:
- Need water? Dig a 1 block long by 3 block wide hole, and place a water bucket at either end. Then, grab water from the middle!
- If possible, make your farm in an active spot! The more players in the area, the more the chunks are loaded, and the faster your crops grow!
- Expect to harvest around 10,000 crops per prestige level (the exact number is 9,672) if you don’t switch jobs mid-way.
- Like a little competition? Type /lb from time to time to see who has harvested the most crops, along with your total (leaderboards update at morning and nightfall)!
- Like farming but want to try a different job? To minimize your losses, switch jobs right after you prestige!
